Graduate students in English at Texas A&M benefit from an innovative curriculum, excellent scholarly and pedagogical training, and a vibrant intellectual community. We have an internationally prominent faculty and a diverse and professionally active student body. All PhD students are supported by assistantships and some tuition assistance; some assistantships are available to MA students. Students teach three courses a year and may have the opportunity to teach upper division courses in their areas of specialty. We also offer research assistantships, dissertation fellowships, and funding for travel and research. We are committed to training our students to be effective teachers as well as accomplished scholars.
We were a partner department in the Carnegie Initiative on the Doctorate, a multi-year study on the future of doctoral education. Some of our work is online at the CID website.
